LOCAL INTERNATIONAL REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL ATTENDS CONFERENCE IN NATION’S CAPITAL
Arlington, VA: (Dagmar Sands, Broker, CIPS,FIPC,ABR,FIREC) Johns Creek, GA owner of Real Estate International, Inc. joined a select group of international real estate professionals gathered at the Spring Annual Meeting of the International Real Estate Federation, US Chapter (FIABCI-USA) in historic Old Town Alexandria, VA from March 19th-21st. The purpose of the Spring Annual Meeting was to discuss important markets and trends in international real estate while networking with fellow global real estate professionals. Hot topics during the meeting included tips and strategies for business development during uncertain economic conditions, luxury properties, and marketing presentation technique.
Meeting attendees had the exclusive opportunity to attend a case-study presentation on ING’s recent redevelopment of the historic Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, market themselves and their investments at marketing sessions, and attend economic briefings at the French Embassy and the Chinese Embassy. The briefings gave attendees valuable information in the areas of commerce, culture, and real estate trends to better prepare them for the upcoming FIABCI World Congress in Beijing and future meetings in France, the home nation of FIABCI’s world headquarters.
The French Economic Counselor provided detailed information on France’s economy and business environment. He dispelled some of the myths about France, such as pointing out that France ranks 3rd in the world (after Norway and the U.S.) for the best labor productivity/hour. Members in attendance learned that the French economy is the 5th most powerful economy in the world and the 2nd largest in Europe. The First and Third Secretaries of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China shared statistics and trends, as well as helpful cultural information and web links. Members were given advice to remember certain key factors in building business relationships in China: be on time to show you can be relied upon; watch your body language and be attentive, which shows your self-control and respect; and don’t push for a business decision, but allow time to balance the potential risks and gains.
Through its individual, academic, company, and professional association members in 65 countries, FIABCI members have access to real estate professionals in all specialties around the world. FIABCI-USA (the US Chapter) is the only international real estate organization representing the entire spectrum of the real estate industry in the US. FIABCI’s mission is to open the international community to its members on a local, national, and international level, so that they may develop a broad base of real estate contacts that will translate into increased business opportunities and, ultimately, financial success.
